Record & Reality Manifesto
Civilization acts on records,
or on their absence.
Seven axioms on why that determines whether it prospers — or annihilates itself.
- 1. Reality always exceeds its record.
- 2. Civilization acts on records, or on their absence (a gap).
-
3.
There are four types of action:
- (a) extract a record from reality
- (b) exercise a record in the world
- (c) inherit a record
- (d) assume a record, in the absence of one
-
4.
(a) is always good(b) can be good or bad(c) is good or bad by the fidelity of the record(d) is always bad
- 5. Technology increases civilization's capacity to act.
- 6. Technology increases the number of actors.
- 7. Therefore: exponential instances and consequences of (a)–(d). Some combinations annihilate civilization; some prosper it. PINGBACK exercises a sub-combination toward the combination itself — toward a more knowing civilization.
